So, I decided today to try and make a new smoothie with my EHP Labs Swiss Chocolate Whey Protein. I always make raspberry smoothies, so I made a variation of this recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup of low sugar yogurt (I used Chobani’s whole yoghurt)
- 300-400ml of milk (can be normal or almond) – I like to put in as much as it takes to make the smoothie really runny
- 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
- 1-2 eggs
- 2 handfuls of frozen raspberries
As protein powder clumps really easily and frozen banana is hard to break down, you need to use a really good blender (I use a Thermomix) to make the mixture as smooth as possible (lumpy smoothies aren’t great and they are hard to drink)
Now the smoothie, basically tasted the same as normal, but with a hint of chocolate and it was a lot easier to drink than a straight protein shake. You also receive fibre (helps slow glucose absorption), vitamins, dairy, and more protein (egg). It is a good way to get in some post workout carbohydrates, protein and fats as well as fruit and calcium.
If I am making a normal smoothie then I will add blueberries instead of the protein powder.
Let me know if you try it!!
Love Caite xx
