Supplements

So recently I decided to order some EHP Labs supplements based on a video I watched by Fit with El. I did some research and decided to buy some BCAAs, Oxy Whey and Oxy Shred from SuppsRUs. SuppsRUs is a pretty cheap Australian site and they give you a free protein shaker with every purchase, which is nice.

Oxy Whey is gluten free for those of you who are gluten intolerant. It contains 24g of Whey Protein (Builds lean muscle), 5.3g of BCAAs (Muscle Protein Synthesis), 3g of Carbohydrates and 300mg for MCT oils (Fat Loss + Heart Health and Sustained Energy). It claims that it supports the immune system, boost metabolism of compounds, helps with protein peptide delivery and helps digestive enzymes.

I will be using Oxy Whey as a post workout shake to help my muscles recover better. It will also help to boost my daily kJ intake as currently I am struggling to meet my target.

It can also be used as a breakfast protein shake if taken 1 hour after consuming oxy shred. This helps to boost your metabolism and regulate your appetite.

The bottle claims it can be used as a meal replacement but I don’t recommend this, I think that you should consume all of your meals and snacks as whole food.

I bought the Swiss Chocolate flavour and so far I actually enjoy the taste, which is surprising because I normally hate protein shakes.

Oxy Shred is designed to take in the morning on an empty stomach as well as 20 minutes before a workout. Also when combined with BCAAs they work together to burn fat and not muscle protein for energy for your workout.

I’ve been trying a version of oxy shred for a few weeks now and it really give you the boost you need before a workout and in the morning. It enhances your energy and ability to focus as well as having thermogenic properties through helping increase the intensity of exercise, hence aiding in the burning of fat. As it provides a high it can mean that some people have a crash and may require more if they exercise in the afternoon.

BCAAs should be consume during training as an intra-workout beverage to reduce lactic acid build up, increase endurance and lean muscle development.  For HITT and LISS workouts it should be consumed before and during your workout to help limit catabolism (breakdown) of muscle tissue for energy.

It also helps to reduce muscle soreness (i.e. reduce the effect of DOMS), while also aiding in the recovery of the muscle.

It doesn’t contain fat, sugar, stimulants or fillers. It also contains electrolytes and coconut water to help keep you hydrated during your workout.

I am using the BCAAs and Oxy Shred together for my workouts, but I will only have Oxy Shred in the mornings I am working out, however, I may change this to having Oxy Shred in the mornings I don’t workout then having it only before my workout on other days.

It’s going to be trial and error to find the dosage and consistency that suits me best as I’m not a huge fan of putting heaps of chemicals in my body (but I have tried most other fat loss options and I am a bit stuck). So hopefully these products can help me to train harder and more efficiently so that I can build my muscle and burn fat to achieve my ideal health and fitness, which will be easier to maintain in the long run. This is because a higher muscle mass means your metabolism is faster and hence it will be easier to keep my body fat percentage lower.

UPDATE: *I have been taking BCAAs (1 scoop) before my workout with Oxy Shred (1 scoop) on the advice of my PT mentor and after high intensity workouts I will be taking another scoop of BCAA for recovery*

DISCLAIMER: I have stopped using both Oxy Shred and Protein currently as they caused me to no longer be hungry and I would often not eat enough food to sustain my body, hence it lead to me becoming very ill. I haven’t be able to go to the gym for several weeks, but once I have recovered, I am going to still use BCAAs, but I will focus on my nutrition before re-introducing Protein supplements. Maintaining all the required nutrients for the body requires

If you have any questions feel free to ask me or if you have any information about these products you’d like to share with a newbie (me) then please let me know below.
